Can I work abroad on a business visa?

No. A business visa covers short trips for business purposes only. To take up paid employment you need a work visa .

Is an invitation compulsory?

Usually yes. In some cases official confirmation that you are registered for a fair or event will also be accepted.

I have no company, I am a sole trader — what then?

That is fine. In that case we use your registration documents and letters evidencing your business relationships.

Can I get a multiple-entry visa?

In some countries, yes, usually where there is a history of previous trips. The consulate decides — it cannot be guaranteed in advance.
